The school board approved a revised 2007-08 school calendar due to a new state law that stipulated beginning with the 2007-08 school year the opening dates for schools may not be earlier than 14 days before Labor Day. The Calendar Committee, which is comprised of parents, teachers, principals, clerical staff and representatives from the Classroom Teachers Association (CTA) the Parent, Teacher and Student Association (PTSA) and district staff, developed the calendar with input from schools and the community. The five day Thanksgiving break is unique to the 2007-08 calendar and is not necessarily a precedent for future calendars.
